Refer to our Tassimo setup guide which instructs you to plug in and clean your Tassimo before using. Also, it's not imperative that the Tassimo is off when you refill its water tank. It simply needs sufficient water before starting to brew. With regards to your comment about "if necessary remove the cap stand": actually, it does say 'cup stand,' and just before that bullet, it reads, "place a suitable cup on the stand, according to the type of drink you will be brewing." I presume people understand that if their cups are too large, the stand will need to be removed, but please feel free to change that if you think it's not clear. Last of all, Dozuki guides are media-rich. They do not aim to be artsy, but rather use hi-res images to show users how the actions they are performing will look.
